Troubleshoot unsaved document changes

Document changes can fail to appear when the connection, access, or sync state changes while you edit.

Check the document state

1. Wait for the document to finish saving.

2. Check the connection.

3. Confirm that you still have edit access.

4. Open the document again.

5. Check whether the change appears after the document reloads.

If a shared document has a conflict

• Keep the document open until the current save finishes.

• Copy important new text before you reload.

• Ask the owner to confirm that your access is still Can edit.

• Compare the document with your copied text and add the missing changes again.

Do not close the only copy of important work before you confirm that the changes are saved.
