Start direct group organization or course chats

Start a direct, group, organization, or course conversation

Chat supports direct conversations and shared conversations for eligible groups.

Steps

  1. Open Chat.

  2. Select the new conversation action.

  3. Choose a username for a direct chat, or choose a group, organization, or course conversation.

  4. Add eligible members.

  5. Send the first message.

Organization and course conversations use the identity and access rules of that group. Course chats can be connected to multiple courses. Each organization can have one chat for an exact course combination, while overlapping combinations are allowed. Organization admins can add courses from chat info. Members with access can rename course chats there. Members of any connected course and directly added members can access the conversation.

  • Add members to an eligible group

  • Send attachments and understand the eight-file limit

  • Block, unblock, and report users
